2.Etnies Girls Skateboardcamp

Date: 5.-13. August 2006
Place: Skatepark Pumpwerk and European Skateboard Championships (ESC) in Basel, Switzerland
Riders: 16 girls from 6 countries between 14 and 28 years
Coaches: 2 local Skaters, 2 Jee Vice and 5 Etnies Girls Teamriders
Sponsors: Etnies, Eastpak, Nikita, Jee Vice, Element, Pro Tec, Nintendo, Playboard, Shema and Red Bull

Vom 5. - 13. August 2006 fand in Basel die zweite Ausgabe des Etnies Skateboard Girlscamp statt und das grösser und internationlaer als 2005. Es kamen 16 Teilnehmerinnen aus Finnland, Polen, Holland, Frankreich, Deutschland und der Schweiz.

Die Mehrheit waren Anfängerinnen, wovon sogar ein paar zum ersten Mal auf einem Sakteboard standen und dann bis am Ende des Camps Tricks wie Kickturns, Ollies, 180's, Manuals, Drop In-s und Rock to Fakies konnten. Dies verdanken sie sicher den guten Coaches und der gegenseitigen Motivation.

Dann gab es auch einige Fortgeschrittene welche zum Teil auch bei ersten Camp 2005 dabei waren und mit 360 Flips, 50-50's, Nosesliedes, usw. auch im Camp Contest die Nase vorne hatten. Der Contest war eine Jamsession von 3 Gruppen und jeweils 5 Starterinnen. Während 5 Minuten durften alle ihr Können zeigen und wurden dabei bewertet von unseren Etnies Teamfahrerinnen und unseren Coaches. Als Gewinnerin, mit viel gestandenen Tricks, konnte Melanie Gleissner mit einer Wildcard an die ESC.

Alle bekamen viel Stuff von unseren Sponsoren, wir hatten für alle Rucksäcke, Bags, T-Shirts, Helme, Sonnenbrillen usw. Zusätzlich gab es dann bei unserer Tombola ein Nintendo DS Light mit dem Tony Hawk American Wasteland Spiel zu gewinnen. Da hatte Carla Schüle das Glück diesen tollen Preis mit nach Hause zu nehmen.

Ein grosses Highlight war der Besuch von den 5 Etnies Teamfahrerinnen. Lisa Schairer, Lucy Adams, Maria Falbo, Ianire Elorriaga, Evelien Bouillart kamen am Dienstag und Mittwoch für ein paar Stunden zum Coachen und Skaten mit den Girls vom Camp.

Am Dienstagabend kam Steffi hager von Soletech mit einem leckeren BBQ und allen Etnies Girls für ein Meet & Greet.

Ein grosses Dankeschön an alle Teilnehmerinnen, die Helfer, die Coaches, den Koch, den Fotografen und an die Sponsoren.

2nd Etnies Girls Skateboardcamp

From the 5th to13th August 2006 the second Etnies Skateboard Girlscamp took place in Basel, Switzerland. It was much bigger and more international than in 2005. 16 riders from Finland, Poland, the Netherlands, france, Germany and Switzerland showed up.

Most of the girls were beginners and for some of them it was their first days on a Skateboard. The level of theyr skating increased from day to day and at the end of the camp they were able to do Kickturns, Ollies, 180s, Manuals Drop-Ins and Rock to Fackies. That al was the result of the good work that had been done by the coaches, the big motivation of each girl and the good vibes beetween them.

Some of the girls that rode on an intermediate level where girls which had been to the camp the year before. These girls did 360 Flips, 50-50’s, Noseslides, etc. it was also the group that was one step ahead in the Camp Contest. The Contest was held as a Jamesession with 3 heats with 5 riders in each heat. During 5 minutes each girl preformed her best tricks and the Etnies Teamriders and the coaches did the judging. Melanie Gleissner made to the first place with a lot of landed tricks.

All of them received a large goodie bag with cool stuff from the sponsors, like backpacks, bags, shirts, helmets, sunglasses, etc. In addition to that we also had a raffle and Carla Schüle won a Nintendo DS Light with the Tony Hawk Wasteland Game.

A big camp highlight was the get together with 5 of the Etnies Girls Teamriders. Lisa Schairer, Lucy Adams, Maria Falbo, Ianire Elorriaga, Evelien Bouillart came on Tuesday and Wednesday to coach the girls and skate with them for some hours.

On Tuesday evening Steffi Hager from Soletech showed up with a delicious BBQ and some of the Etnies Girls for a Meet & Greet.

A big thank you to all the girls, the helpers, the coaches, the cook, the photographer and the sponsors.
